NT: Murder defendant disputes age

An Aborigine from remote Elcho Island will undergo x-ray analysis to help determine
whether he will face a murder charge as an adult or juvenile.

DANIEL YUNUPINGU would receive a mandatory life sentence if convicted in the Northern
Territory Supreme Court of murder as an adult.

But a life sentence would be the maximum penalty he would face if convicted as a juvenile.

He is charged with stabbing an 18-year-old man to death on his home island off Arnhem
Land during a petrol-sniffing session on June 6 last year.
