Fed: PM knew Canberra s accommodation capacity business

The ACT business community says Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD knew what accommodation
was available in Canberra before he chose it to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government
Meeting.

Mr HOWARD announced on New Year's Eve that Canberra did not have the accommodation
or facilities to host the event and it would go instead to Brisbane.

His change of heart has sparked outrage in the ACT, where the business and tourism
community says it put two years of planning into hosting the event.
